An Irvine man died earlier today when his disabled car was struck on the I-405, authorities said.

Avishek Dube, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on the freeway's northbound lanes, just north of Jamboree Road, around 3:25 a.m., authorities said.

Dube's 1997 Infiniti was disabled in the fast lane due to a prior accident, according to the California Highway Patrol. Another car that was going approximately 70 miles per hour in the same lane struck the Infiniti, killing Dube.
The male driver of the second vehicle -- Donavan A. Lozada of Fountain Valley -- suffered moderate injuries, and was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

CHP is investigating.
